It wouldn’t be the festive period without a gathering or two of friends around a table in a pub or restaurant to enjoy delicious food and lots of laughter. Thankfully, Christmas 2022 didn’t disappoint as members of Hand In Hand Activities CIC activities came together for their festive feasts.
On Monday 28th November, the group started early with a lunch at La Port Italian Restaurant in Billingham. We met at the venue at 12 noon with our food choices pre-ordered and ready for a fine dining experience. The food menu was quite extensive and the specific lunch menu offered really good value for money for diners. Sadly there had been a little confusion over the menu as the full menu hadn’t been available through the website but it was all very quickly resolved and we were ready to enjoy our meal. I can only speak for myself when I say that the pasta Carbonara was absolutely delicious and probably the best I have ever tasted!
On Thursday 1st December, the group met at the Hamilton Russell Arms to enjoy the launch of their festive menu. The service at the table was fantastic and the pub were able to cater for a range of dietary requirements. At the end of the three courses, we were all sufficiently full and ready for a nap. The food was delicious, with the breaded brie a personal favourite. We made a hasty exit as we hadn’t realised it was pub quiz night when we had booked our table but at no point did we feel rushed.
Huge thanks to the staff at both venues for being so accommodating and thanks also to everyone who attended. It’s always nice to get together with the group members outside of the regular activity provision. Looking forward to the next one!

It was a lovely start to the festive season. Good company, lovely food and the staff were so friendly. Although it was quiz night we were not rushed. Worth having another visit

I attended the Christmas meal at La Porto in Billingham. It’s good to meet up with my fellow Zumbarettes outside of the class as there’s more time to chat and have a laugh. The meal itself was delicious, I think I was the only one that ordered chunky chips and they were definitely chunky! I ended up sharing them with a couple of others. I think everyone was pleased with their meal and it definitely put me in the Christmassy mood.

I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Hamilton Russel. The company was, as always, great, the good delicious and although the pub was very busy because of their quiz night the service was good. Apart from a slight hiccup with the original table we were offered, this was quickly sorted. It was an excellent start to the festive season.

I enjoyed the festive evening meal with Stepping Out and Zumba friends. I enjoyed the atmosphere and tasty food. It was a very enjoyable evening , to start the festive season ! I’m looking forward to the next one.
