We are both excited and delighted to be supporting the local Riding for the Disabled Association Riding Centre for their Fit For February fundraising campaign. The Unicorn Centre, Stainton Way, Hemlington, opened in 1998 and provides an inclusive, safe and supportive environment for people with disabilities of all ages, socio-economic status and environment to experience and develop horse riding skills.
Alison Watson-Shields, our Director and resident fitness instructor, said, “I am so happy to be able to give something back to an organisation that I have previous experience with. The work that they do at the Unicorn Centre offers holistic benefits including physical fitness, animal therapy, independence and confidence building, to both riders and the volunteers. Their work has touched the lives of many people I know and I know people are missing their opportunities to ride and interact with the team and the horses due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and that will be having a huge financial impact on the charity, so I am so happy to be able to offer my services to help with their fundraising campaign ‘Fit for February’.”
We invite supporters of the Unicorn Centre to donate directly to the Centre via their Virgin Money Giving Page.
